Hacking with Japanese Rubyists!
Aug 26, 2010 From: sarahmei@g...
Hi everyone,
I'm hosting a RubyKaigi subevent on Saturday to help Japanese and
non-Japanese Rubyists hack together. The "Pair Programming Cultural
Exchange" is from 1:30pm-6:30pm and I would love it if you would come
by!
I'll provide you a list of programming phrases (with video of a native
speaker saying each) in English and Japanese, then pair you up with a
Japanese Rubyist for some hacking. You can work together on something
you have on your laptop, and I will also have some simple programming
problems that you can tackle together, if what you're working on has
too much context. The goal is for everyone to have fun and get to know
folks who speak other languages, since we all speak Ruby!
You can come any time, and you don't have to stay to the end. At the
beginning, I'll give a short talk about what pair programming is, and
how it fits in with other agile practices. My colleague who's helping
me, Takuto Wada (@t_wada) will give a short talk in Japanese on the
same themes. We may do the intro talks a few more times if traffic to
the event is bursty. :)
If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer. I will be pretty easy
to pick out at the conference I think. There's a picture of me at
Tuesday's asakusa.rb meetup at the end of Sarah Allen's blog post:

See you there!
